BMW 7-Series
The BMW is all but decided on bringing a new diesel variant of its stately 7-Series large ultra-luxury sedan to the United States, according to a report from Car and Driver. The oil-burning 7-Series will reportedly use a modified version of the 3.0-liter turbodiesel engine currently seeing duty in the X5 xDrive35d, likely tuned to make 308 horsepower and 465 lb-ft. of torque when applied to the big, classy 7.

And the Mercedes-Benz already offers its S-Class with a diesel in the S350 BluTech, while Audi USA has a diesel version of its A8 fullsize planned in the next year or so. The 7-Series will soon be released for 2013 with its midcycle refresh softening styling and bringing more-powerful engines, so the timing is perfect to expand BMW diesel offerings in the United States.
