The 2011 GMC Yukon XL 1500 is powered by a whopping 310-horsepower, 5.3-liter flex-fuel V-8 engine with 335 pounds-feet of torque and is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission plus auto-manual mode. If that’s not enough, you can always opt for the 403-horsepower, 6.2-liter flex-fuel V-8 with 417 pounds-feet of torque for optimal acceleration.

When properly equipped, the 2011 GMC Yukon XL 1500 can tow a truck-like 8,100 pounds, while the XL 2500 can haul up to 9,600 pounds. EPA estimated fuel economy ratings range between 12-15 mpg in the city and 17-20 mpg on the highway, which isn’t bad considering its size.  As far as competition in the extra-long full-size SUV segment goes, only the Ford Expedition EL, Chevrolet Suburban and GMC Yukon XL 2500 can compete.
