 ENGINE
The mammoth 2011 GMC Yukon XL is offered in half-ton 1500, three-quarter-ton 2500 and high-end Denali models.  Closely resembling the Chevrolet Suburban, the 2011 Yukon XL 2500 is available in rear- or four-wheel-drive configurations, while the Denali has a permanent all-wheel-drive system.  The 2011 GMC Yukon XL 2500 is powered by a whopping 352-horsepower, 6.0-liter flex-fuel V-8 engine with 382 pounds-feet of torque and is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission plus auto-manual mode.  If that’s not enough, you can always opt for the 403-horsepower, 6.2-liter flex-fuel V-8 with 417 pounds-feet of torque for optimal power and towing ability.

When properly equipped, the 2011 GMC Yukon XL 2500 can haul up to a truck-like 9,600 pounds and a hydraulic brake booster provides additional pressure to the brakes to assist in stopping the extra weight.  An optional towing package includes an integrated trailer brake controller allows for proper brake signaling to a trailer’s brake systems.  EPA estimated fuel economy ratings 10 mpg in the city and 15-16 mpg on the highway, which doesn’t include flex-fuel estimates.  The 2011 GMC Yukon XL 2500 is closely related to its GM cousin, the Chevrolet Suburban and also competes with the Ford Expedition EL.
SAFETY
